Terrorism! Terrorists! Keep us safe oh government. Please please keep us safe!
The word terrorists and terrorism was all we heard after the events of 9/11. We were traumatized and filled with fear. Fear which allowed us to be convinced that in order to secure our safety against the dark threat of terrorism, we would have to sacrifice some of our rights and liberties. Consequently we got the liberty busting USA Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act and NSA spying.
After the Orlando shooting we were told that in addition to the USA Patriot Act, NSA spying and alike, we need to give up even more of our rights and liberty!
Terrorism invokes emotions of fear, but fear leave us vulnerable to simple-minded, intellectually deficient, soundbite solutions like more gun control. We can’t be fooled again and allow ourselves to surrender liberty, because surrendering liberty does nothing to enhance our security.
If we allow ourselves to be ruled by fear and plead with the government to keep us safe in the name of safety and security, we will be taking another step towards slavery. A step towards statism where the government concentrates all power and control unto itself at the cost of our individual liberty.
A fear based reaction to terrorism is folly and we need to be on alert. Are we more safe because of the US Patriot Act? Are we more safe because of NSA snooping? Statism feeds on war and division and fear separates us and seeds the urge to blame each other and the reality is that laws don’t prevent criminals from committing crimes. We can’t succumb to fear and allow ourselves to be divided and begin blaming each other for terrorism else we suffer from intellectual slavery and become more susceptible to surrendering even more of our liberties.
Those who wish to be ignorant and free wish for what never was and never will be. Thomas Jefferson
Terrorism is in America
Yes, radical Islam is in America but it is not here because we have too much liberty.
Radical Islam is in America because we have a government that has forgotten what its proper role is and because we, as a people, are mentally enslaved and have forgotten how to protect ourselves! This is why we cry for government to keep us safe from the terrorism.
But this is not the first time that America has had to face radical Islam and perhaps you’ve never heard the story of how Thomas Jefferson dealt with the problem of the The Barbary pirates. He didn’t outlaw religion, he didn’t pass gun control, he didn’t pick sides and arm adversaries. He solved the problem by protecting the liberty of Americans and that is what we have to do today. Get the full story and learn how Thomas Jefferson dealt with Islamic extremism by listeing to the broadcast.
